Headed to the Río Verde for the annual kayak race!! Here looking downstream at friends paddling the novice section of the race. Beautiful clean water, a great crew of paddlers, festivities, prizes, fiesta, everything you could want from a great paddling festival! It was interesting to learn about the perspective that paddlers and festival organizers have on rivers and river conservation.

Looking upstream at the technical entry rapid of the elite race. Here Jair Robles eddies out to scout the smoothest and fastest lines.

Moments before I sail off the final boof in the first rapid of the elite section of the race.

The race included both down river and slalom races. Here El Char cruises through one of the tougher gates.

We definitely need more women to race in the elite category next year! Two women raced in the novice category and I raced against the boys in the elite category!

After the race we headed to the Zuñac. Sadly it was too low to run, but it was an incredibly beautiful place to relax and take in the tranquility of a jungle river.

About Me

I want to spend time personally navigating the chaos of river issues by immersing myself during my Watson year in a broader perspective of river life and river cultures.
